Music at St Gabriel’s

Music at St Gabriel’s

Music holds a central place in the liturgical life of St Gabriel’s. The church choir is made up of talented volunteers - many of whom previously sang as Choral Scholars in university choirs - alongside a professional group of accomplished singers who balance their work at St Gabriel’s with active careers as soloists and ensemble performers. The choir meets every Sunday for the 10:30am Parish Mass, at which they sing the full range of sacred choral repertoire, from Renaissance polyphony to works from the 21st-Century.

Additionally, St Gabriel's is one of the few churches in London to have Choral Evensong and Benediction every week during term time, sung by St Gabriel's Choir and visiting choirs. This preserves an ancient liturgical tradition.

As the choir has no mid-week rehearsal, a high level of musicianship and sight-reading is required to keep up with the ambitious repertoire sung by the choir. New members are always welcome. To discuss further, please contact James Day, on 07970152098 or jjames.day@googlemail.com
